Women's tennis

The Gophers women's tennis team first swept three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, then took four of six singles matches to defeat Illinois-Chicago 5-2 at the 98th St. Racquet Club in Bloomington on Sunday.

Men's tennis

The No. 23 Gophers mens' tennis team defeated Ohio State 6-1 at the 98th St. Racquet Club in Bloomington on Sunday. This was Minnesota's second Big Ten victory of the season.

Women's gymnastics

No. 7 Minnesota fought off upset-minded Iowa State to win 193.375 - 191.075 at the Sports Pavilion on Saturday night. The come from behind victory was led by junior Judy Cavazos and freshman MaryAnne Kelley, who tied for first place on the floor exercise with a 9.85.

Men's gymnastics

One week after losing to No. 1 Iowa, Minnesota hosted No. 3 Ohio State at the Sports Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

Different venue, same result.

The Gophers lost 226.15-211.925, but senior Jason Krob took first in the pommel horse for the second week in a row.

Men's track and field

Facing competition from No. 1 Arkansas and No. 2 Stanford at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday, Minnesota sophomore Adam Freed took first place in the 600-meter dash.

The Gophers will host the Snowshoe Invitational on Friday, Feb. 12.

Women's track and field

A pair of Gophers took first place at the Iowa State Classic this weekend. Senior Yvette White set a school record in the 400-meter dash and junior Christine Gulbrandsen won the triple jump.

Minnesota also produced three of the top five finishers in the weight throw.
