Coleman’s double-count witness returns to stand

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) âÄî A Minneapolis poll worker who Republican Norm Coleman considers crucial to his claim that some votes were double counted is back on the witness stand. The testimony of Minneapolis election judge Pamela Howell was struck and then reinstated in successive days last week during the Senate election trial in St. Paul. Last week ended with her testimony in doubt after disclosures about additional written contacts she had with Coleman’s lawyers that were withheld from Democrat Al Franken’s team. But she returned Monday morning as Coleman’s lawyers try to prove that in the statewide recount some voters in Democratic-leaning Minneapolis had their ballots counted twice. Coleman is suing to overcome Franken’s 225-vote lead in that recount.
