An inventive group of Twin Cities residents is gearing up this weekend to go back in time —the medieval times, to be exact.
The group is called The Frozen North — a chapter, or “realm,” of the Belegarth, Dagorhir and Amtgard medieval combat societies. Fighters, many of which are University of Minnesota students, will don medieval-style clothing and meet with fighters of other realms at Carley State Park in Rochester for the “Siedde II” tournament.
Foam fighters generally simulate medieval combat, but many also follow “Lord of the Rings” style, and are encouraged to use any elements of fantasy in their fighting, according to the Belegarth Website. Imagination reigns, and as the site says, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
