Man seriously hurt in hockey fan fight

A North Dakota man was sent to the hospital after the North Dakota-Minnesota hockey game last weekend.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) âÄî University of North Dakota police say a fight among fans after a weekend North Dakota-Minnesota hockey game left one person seriously injured and another in jail. Jason Smith, of Grand Forks, is reported in serious condition in Altru Hospital after he was punched as he was leaving the hockey arena Friday night. Police say they found the 34-year-old Smith unconscious on the ground. UND Police Chief Duane Czapiewski says 28-year-old Peter Chwialkowski, of Oslo, Minn., is facing a felony aggravated assault charge. He was arrested late Friday night. Police say the investigation is continuing.
