DFLers pull back bonding bill before veto

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Democratic House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher (KEL'-uh-her) is pulling back a $1 billion construction bill that Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty had promised to take down.
Kelliher's move on Tuesday pre-empts Pawlenty's veto.
Instead, she says the public works package will await further action in the Senate while the bill's sponsors wait for Pawlenty to outline specific objections in writing or in public.
She says it's a "cooling off period."
Pawlenty told lawmakers he would reject the bill before it passed both chambers of the Legislature on Monday.
It would have been his second major veto of the session. He rejected a bill last week that would have extended an expiring state health care program for low-income adults.
