Student senate represents students, not administration

The interests of the Student Senate are apparently not in the interest of the students. When the last Student Senate meeting took place, the predominant conversation was about the difficulty in transferring students, a challenge that seems to not have vanished within the last decade despite the criticism. When one student told them he was unhappy about faculty being laid off while the administration keeps its administrators, one of the senate members told him that they donâÄôt want to address that because they might be put on probation, as another group had (which, by the way, was because they dropped a banner, and not because they voiced their opinion). If the Student Senate is not going to address student concerns beyond the challenges of college transfer, then the Student Senate has failed to represent the voice of the students. Worse, it then serves the interests of administration over students. Jonathan Saliger University undergraduate student
