Details of assaults at fraternity emerge

The previously reported assaults that took place last weekend occurred at the Delta Kappa Epsilon house, according to police reports.

The previously reported assaults that took place last weekend occurred at the Delta Kappa Epsilon house, according to police reports.
The house is identified by its address, 1711 University Ave. S.E., in the Minneapolis Police Department reports filed for the two incidents.
DKE president Kaleb Osagie did not return calls for an interview request.
The University of Minnesota Office for Fraternity and Sorority Life will investigate the events from that weekend to determine what possible consequences for the fraternity chapter might be, OFSL coordinator Chad Ellsworth said. The first step in that investigation is to establish whether the student conduct code was broken.
“We’re disappointed that the fraternity was not able to provide a safe environment for its members and guests,” Ellsworth said.
“The outcome of the disciplinary process could be anything from not finding responsibility to removing their recognition as a student organization,” he said.
At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old woman not affiliated with the University was sexually molested in the DKE house, according to police.
The victim’s friend, Sarah Knutson of Little Canada, Minn., said the two were visiting the University for the weekend.
The victim was using the bathroom when a man entered and “took off his pants and tried to have his way with her,” Knutson said. The man fled the house, but not before taking the victim’s cell phone.
The victim went outside to alert Knutson and others of what happened, but the man had disappeared.
The suspect is described as a black male of average build, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and a very dark complexion between 21 and 22 years old. The man was wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans, Knutson said.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, two men were robbed in the basement of the DKE house.
The two victims were pinned up against the wall by four suspects who stole their cell phones and one of the victims’ wallets,
according to the reports.
The suspects in the robbery are described as black males between 18 and 20 years old. One suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and another wore a white shirt and black hat, according to a safety alert issued by University police.
