First of four Carlson School dean finalists announced

The Carlson School of Management announced Thursday the first of four candidates to become the next dean of the school.

Dr. Randall S. Peterson will be on campus Monday and Tuesday to interview for the position. Peterson is currently deputy dean of faculty and a professor of Organizational Behavior at the London Business School.

The remaining candidates will be announced sporadically in the coming weeks. Each is set to visit campus and give a presentation on Feb. 2, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13.

A candidate is supposed to be named dean and take over the school in March.

Former Carlson School Dean Alison Davis-Blake resigned in August to take the same position at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.

Davis-Blake made $477,000 in 2009 according to salary data — the third-highest salary among business school deans in the Big Ten.

The next Carlson dean’s salary will depend upon the market, Tom Sullivan, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, previously told the Daily.

“We’ll have to be competitive — whatever the market for dean’s salaries is at the time,” Sullivan said.

Peterson’s presentation Monday will be held in the 3M Auditorium at the Carlson School from 2-3:15 p.m. It is open to the public.
