Second associate AD follows Teague to Minnesota

Mike Ellis, former associate athletics director at Virginia Commonwealth University, will join Minnesota's new AD Norwood Teague, the Star Tribune reported.

Ellis, who has been with VCU for 19 years, joins Teague and former colleague David Benedict, who left VCU for Minnesota last month.

The Rams' online bio about Ellis is glowing.

"There's no way to really describe in words the importance of Mike Ellis in the VCU Athletics Department," the site says.

The Butner, N.C. native was an assistant coach to the men's basketball program for 13 years before moving up to the administrative level six years ago.

His primary focus was fundraising and development, according to VCU's bio.
