Alcohol sales at TCF Bank Stadium are off to a better start than expected, according to numbers released Tuesday.
University of Minnesota officials said approximately 15,327 servings of beer and wine were sold at Saturday’s game against New Hampshire — more than twice the University’s goal of 7,000 sales set by associate athletics director Scott Ellison last week.
A majority of the servings — approximately 13,118 — came from the general seating area. In the premium seating areas, attendants purchased 2,209 of the higher-priced servings.
Gross sales for beer and wine totaled approximately $111,000, according to the release. Exact numbers will be released at a later date after they’ve been audited.
The University will receive a commission from sales for each of the seven home games played this season. The remainder of the revenue will be used to cover expenses such as product cost, sales tax and labor.
University spokesman Chuck Tombarge said sales on Saturday went smoothly, and most wait times were between six and 12 minutes.
A Game Day Campus Operations Committee will meet Wednesday to discuss what changes will be made for the Gophers’ home game Saturday against Western Michigan.
