University of Minnesota freshman wide receiver Andre McDonald has been hospitalized, a team spokesman confirmed Thursday.
McDonald told the Minnesota Daily he had a “little problem with my heart” in a phone interview Thursday at about 1:15 p.m. The team spokesman said McDonald was undergoing tests Thursday afternoon.
A campus hospital confirmed earlier Thursday that McDonald had been admitted.
A prized in-state recruit, McDonald has not played in the Gophers' last two games. Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill said two weeks ago that McDonald suffered an infection in his leg from a turf burn before the team's Sept. 8 game against New Hampshire.
