Campus Connector involved in accident

No injuries were reported.

A University of Minnesota Campus Connector was involved in an accident Friday morning at the intersection of the University Transitway and Como Avenue near the St. Paul campus.

A man driving on Como Avenue ran a red light and hit the connector, causing the bus to hit a stoplight and fence, according to University police Deputy Chief Chuck Miner.

The man said his vision was blocked by the sun when he hit the bus, Miner said.

There were approximately seven passengers on the connector. Miner said no injuries were reported.

Another Connector on the route picked up the passengers from the scene, University Services spokesman Tim Busse said.

A streetlight and fence were damaged in the accident, Miner said. The bus was towed from the scene and taken to be repaired.

Busse said there was no permanent damage to anything the bus hit.

“Fortunately, it wasn’t very serious,” he said. “We prefer them that way, with no damage.”
