Minnesota sits alone in fourth after Monday

The Gophers men’s golf team sits alone in fourth place after the first and second rounds of play at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore.

The Gophers finished the two rounds of action Monday with an aggregate team score of 12-over par, six strokes behind Oregon State. The Gophers shot 6-over par as a team in both rounds.

Minnesota freshman Jose Mendez led the squad at 2-under par. Mendez has been a star
performer on the team since he stepped foot on campus, and he sits alone in second place, one shot off the lead.

Gophers senior captain Jon Trasamar finished four strokes behind his freshman teammate with a score of 2-over par.

Minnesota rounded out its scoring lineup with sophomore Jon DuToit (5-over par), freshman Matt Rachey (7-over par) and senior Alex Gaugert (12-over par).

The Gophers will wrap up competition Tuesday afternoon, looking to snatch their third win of the season.

Minnesota will take a two-week break from competition after the Duck Invitational.

It doesn’t compete again until April 12.
