Minnesota played through tough conditions on Friday and Saturday.
High winds and tough conditions forced the final round of the Louisville Ladies Fall Invitational to be cancelled. Through the weather, the Gophers finished eighth out of 13 teams with an overall score of 47 over par at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday and Saturday.
Freshman Grace Kellar and junior Muyu Wu finished in the top-20 to lead the Gophers. Kellar shot an overall score of 9-over and Wu shot 10-over.
“It was nice to see some improvement after having three weeks off,” said head coach Michele Redman. “Grace played great and had it going both rounds.”
Louisville and Kennesaw State shared the tournament title after they both shot 20-over par. Coastal Carolina’s Malene Krolboll Hansen took home the individual medal after shooting par.
Joanne Free, Sabrine Garrison and Kate Lillie rounded out the Gophers team this weekend. Free, another freshman, shot a total score of 13-over, Garrison shot 15-over and Lillie ended with a score of 24-over.
The Gophers have had three freshmen in the lineup all fall season. Redman said she is still getting to know her team and this time off will help everyone get more acquainted with each other.
This was the Gophers' final fall tournament and they will have a few months off until resuming their season in February.
“Going into the Spring, these girls will just be much more comfortable and we will have more time to work with their games as well,” Redman said.
