The Minneapolis attorney’s office declined to press charges against Gophers’ running back Shannon Brooks for the domestic violence complaint that got him arrested in October, the Pioneer Press first reported on Friday.

Brooks was suspended for the Nebraska game after an alleged role in a fight between him and his male roommate. He was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 14 for the alleged incident.

Brooks made his season debut last week against Indiana, returning from a leg injury and surgery in the spring. He was cleared to play a week before last week’s game, but didn’t return because of the allegations.

Fleck said his status on the team was “evolving” after he returned from the suspension.

In his one game with the Gophers this season, he ran 22 times for 154 yards and a touchdown, and fumbled twice. He injured his leg — the one that wasn’t injured previously — in the fourth quarter, and didn’t return to the field.

He isn’t expected to play this Saturday at Illinois. Freshman Mohamed Ibrahim, who was out with an injury last week, is listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart.

Brooks has ran 358 times for 1,882 yards in 29 career games with the Gophers. He has tallied 18 rushing touchdowns at Minnesota.
