12 bombs explode outside banks in Colombia; 1 killed

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Twelve bombs exploded outside banks in Medellin early Wednesday, shattering windows, ripping into teller machines and blowing off doors.
Police said a man suspected of setting at least one of the blasts was killed. No other injuries were reported.
There was no clear motive for the attacks.
Bombings are common in Medellin, home in the 1980s to the world’s most powerful drug cartel, and a city where violence still mars daily life. Riven by a 34-year civil war between leftist rebels, right-wing paramilitaries and drug traffickers, Colombia has one of the highest crime rates in the world.
