The documentary, “Living on One Dollar” was released on April 13, 2013, and was recently made available on Netflix.

The award-winning film follows the journey of four young men as they try to living on $1 a day for two months in Guatemala.

Over the span of 56 days, Ryan Christoffersen, Zach Ingrasci, Sean Leonard, and Chris Temple struggle to survive with hunger, parasite, and the looming stress of their financial hardship.

1.1 billion people around the world are faced with the devastatingly real situation of living on one dollar a day.

The documentary brings to light the hardship of those living in the rural community of Guatemala, but also other places around the world. A majority of the workers earn a living by picking crops for local farmers, but never know the next time that they will be paid.

The men also spend their days talking to locals, learning their stories and culture. The 56 minute span of the documentary is inspirational, and a well worthy swap for your usual Netflix series.
