Minnesota tuition, fees higher than the national average

Tuition and fees at most higher education institutions in Minnesota are higher than national averages, according to a report released Thursday by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education.

Minnesota’s two-year institutions had an average tuition and fee price of $4,767 — higher than peer states’ average of $3,312 and the national average at $2,981.

On national average, the cost of a postsecondary education tends to be higher on the East Coast, and lower in the South, the report notes.

The average cost of attending a Minnesota public four-year institution is $18,454 — slightly higher than the national average of $18,205.
