Tibet’s political leader to visit U

Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Tibet's prime minister, will arrive at the University of Minnesota Law School Friday, his first visit to Minnesota since coming to power.

Sangay's visit comes in the wake of increased protests against Chinese rule of Tibet, including fifty-four protests by self-immolation.

The two-day visit that will include a discussion on the China-Tibet conflict with Chinese and Tibetan students and scholars. The event, which is meant to foster understanding between the two groups on the issue of Chinese rule in Tibet, is open to students from colleges and universities in the Twin Cities metro area.

Sangay's visit will also include meeting with community members at the Tibetan Community Cultural Center and tour the affiliated Tibetan Culture School, both of which are located in St. Paul.
