Crawford-Tufts drops football for track

Gophers wide receiver Devin Crawford-Tufts has decided to leave the football team and pursue a collegiate track career.

Crawford-Tufts was a member of both the football team and the track and field team last season, but the athletics department announced Monday he has decided to focus exclusively on track and field.

Crawford-Tufts was a Minnesota state champion in the 100 and 200 meters at Edina High School and joined the Gophers track and field team in the latter half of the indoor track and field season. He finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships in the 60 meters after a short amount of training with the team.

Crawford-Tufts caught 24 passes for 345 yards in 21 games for the Gophers in his football career. He caught the only touchdown of his career against Texas Tech in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in December.
