At the Half: Eliason, 3 pt. shot keeping Gophers close to Syracuse

The Gophers trail No. 8 Syracuse 39-36 at the half largely thanks to the three-point shot and the interior presence of Elliot Eliason.

Minnesota stroked it from deep. The Gophers hit on 6 of 11 triple tries in the first 20 minutes.

Andre Hollins led the Gophers with 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting. He was closely followed by Malik Smith, who has 8.

Elliott Eliason was the Gophers lone inside presence. Eliason has four points, four boards and four blocks. He's altered numerous Syracuse attempts, especially in transition.

The Gophers have committed 12 turnovers — their season high entering the game was 13. Syracuse is winning the battle on the boards 18-15.

The Orange offense has been paced by Trevor Cooney, who has 12 points on 4 of 8 shooting from downtown.
