At the half: Per usual, guard play leading Gophers

It's no secret the Gophers strength is their depth and talent at the guard spot.

The sentiment has held through 20 minutes as DeAndre Mathieu, Andre Hollins and Austin Hollins combined for 22 of the Gophers 32 first-half points en rourte to a 32-21 halftime lead over Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Minnesota is dominating the turnover battle and the game beyond the arc. The Gophers are shooting 5 for 14 from deep, compared to 0 of 6 shooting for the Islanders. Minnesota has committed just three turnovers, while forcing eight.

One blemish for Minnesota: free-throw shooting. The Gophers are just 3 for 8 from the charity stripe at the half — surprising from a team shooting 77.6 percent coming into the night.
