The seven members of Doomtree might be established artists in their own respect—P.O.S., Dessa, Sims, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan, Lazerbeak, and Paper Tiger—but together the hip-hop collective has garnered local and national praise. With their own projects and involvement with another super-group, Gayngs (Ryan Olson, Bon Iver, and more), Doomtree returns with a proper album. No Kings, Doomtree’s forthcoming album after this year’s Wu-tang Clan/Fugazi mash-up, 13 Chambers (Wugazi), should recast their eminence among the “alternative hip-hop" scene. Whatever that means. But evident on every release of Doomtree’s, the group creatively blends hip-hop with punk, all the while mixing seven artists’ influences. Doomtree’s new album comes out November 22nd, but before then listen to their newest single, “The Grand Experiment,” here.
