Carly Fiorina is a Republican running for U.S. Senate in California. She is not pleased with a fellow Republican candidate's fiscal policies.
So, her campaign launched a Web advertisement against Tom Campbell, a former U.S. Representative, whom they call a "FCINO," a "Fiscal Conservative in Name Only."
That's all fine and good, but it's frankly kind of a boring way to brand your opponent who supported massive tax increases.
Perhaps "Demon Sheep" will stick more easily.
Watch the ad. The fun begins about two and a half minutes in.
Cheap production. Creepy music. Over-the-top Olbermann-esque voiceovers. Everything you could want in a good, cheesy political advertisement.
The ad is making waves online, with more than 100,000 views on YouTube only a day after its release. And "#demonsheep" is a trending topic on Twitter in Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Believe it or not, in mid-January Fiorina was polling better than either of the other two Republicans in head-to-head match-ups with incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer, down only 3 percent. Will this ad help or hurt? It certainly raised her profile.
