Inmates in Atlanta have a unique task: open the new locks and win free food. The locks are being tested on cell doors at the Fulton County Jail after hundreds have been jamming, allowing inmates to get to each other, The Associated Press said.
Fulton County’s chief jailer, Col. Mark Adger, said he’s offering free food for any inmate who can defeat the new locks being tested in one cell block, according to WSB-TV.
Adger said jailers are choosing experienced lock beaters to try the new locks.
County Commissioner Tom Lowe said the lock issue has been blown out of proportion, but others say it puts inmates at risk of being attacked by other prisoners, the AP said.
