The WABC and You
Extending the Washington Avenue Bridge Circulator

If you are a student like me, safety is important to you.  When researching what the University has done to increase safety, the results are impressive.  From calling 624-WALK for an escort home, to the MSA-sponsored MSA Express, to the new Safe U website located here: http://www1.umn.edu/prepared/, the University and student groups have taken measures for safety.

But, the University needs to take one more step in order to ensure the safety of University students living in the Dinkytown area: extend the Washington Avenue Bridge Circulator (WABC) service time. Right now the service stops at 4:45pm, which does not meet the needs of the hundreds of students who have late afternoon or evening classes located on the West Bank campus.

Currently, the Minnesota Student Association, Panhellenic Council, and Interfraternity Council have passed a resolution supporting extending the service from 4:45pm to 10:15pm.  Lets make this campus safer for all students!

So, now I want to hear from you; do you agree with extending the service?  If not, what other ways can we make this campus safer??

It would be great if they could extend it, but it would be even better if they timed it to pick up students about 5-10 minutes after the standard class end time. It seems to me that this bus rarely runs on its stated schedule and just randomly appears. So unless it came when classes are done, it would be frustrating. I prefer not to wait for godot.
