The Minnesota women's soccer team took on the Minnesota men's tennis team in a friendly soccer game today at the Bierman Indoor Football Facility.
The Gopher men's tennis team won 1-0, thanks to a goal midway through the game by senior Pierre Dumas.
Freshman Tobias Wernet of the tennis team, along with junior Kaitlin Wagner of the soccer team helped set up the event, which Wernet said should happen again next year.
Any ideas of any sports you would like to see compete against each other at the U - that would be fair? Obviously, I think, if the women's soccer team played the men's tennis team in tennis, it would be dominated by the tennis team. How about the men's basketball team against the softball team in a game of softball?

I love the idea of different teams competing against each other for fun. However, why don't they play a game that neither of the teams plays for the University? Also, why is it that, to be fair, the mens' teams need to play the womens' game? I am sure some of the mens' tennis team has played soccer before (probably a lot considering most are international) so try not to jump to the conclusion that automatically the men will win.
