The Minnesota High School Player of the Year will make an immediate impact on the blue-line.
Roseau defenseman Aaron Ness will officially be a Gopher next year. Mr. Hockey signed his national letter of intent this week.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Aaron join our program,” Minnesota coach Don Lucia said. “He’s a dynamic offensive defenseman who should be able to step right in and be in the mold of some of the great defensemen who have played here in the past.”
Ness accelerated his schooling over the past year and will graduate after just three years of high school. He ended his career with 144 points (44 goals, 100 assists) in 92 games. The Rams won the State Championship in 2007.
“Obviously, he is an outstanding student when you can combine two years of school into one,” Lucia said. “We’re also excited to have someone from a great program like Roseau. He comes from an outstanding winning tradition.”
Junior goalie Jeff Frazee won't be a Gopher, according to Bruce Brothers of the Pioneer Press.
Frazee has signed a pro contract with the New Jersey Devils after losing his starting job to freshman Alex Kangas during the past season.
The Daily will have more on Ness and Frazee's signings in tomorrow's paper.
