Third period:
The third period provided a lot of collisions and extra pushes all over the ice. Minnesota pulled ahead 2-1 when Rachel Drazan put a shot in the net. Harvard tied the game with a screened shot while Lura and a Minnesota defender didn't have a stick.
The Crimson pulled their goalie with a minute left to give them an extra attacker. Jen Schoullis scored the game winner on a redirection of Michelle Maunu's shot.
Minnesota took an untimely penalty but was able to kill it off

Second period:
This period featured a lot more chances for Harvard, as they had 10 shots and Minnesota had 12. Minnesota had many flurries in front of the net where they were unable to put the puck in the net.

Harvard capitalized on a Gopher mistake at center ice to score short handed and tie the game. Minnesota was unable to re-gain the lead even with a five-on-three.

There have a lot more penalties this period than in the first period. There has also been more physical play with Emily West and the Lamoureux twins seeming to take and give the most hits.

First period:
The Gophers look on point today as their penalty kill and power play have been successful. Harvard only had two shots on goal during two power plays while Minnesota had the same chances but capitalized on one shot. Junior Brittany Francis scored on the power play as she tried to pass the puck through the crease to an open teammate.

Short-handed, Minnesota has had many opportunities with Monique Lamoureux on a breakaway and Emily West doing the same.

Jenny Lura is in net and has faced six shots while Minnesota has taken 11 shots on goal.

Coach Brad Frost kept his word, promising a shake up in lines for this weekend. He kept the Lamoureux twins with Gigi Marving, but mixed other things up. Here's a look at the lines:

Last night, the Gophers won 3-1 against the Crimson with three different skaters scoring. Monique Lamoureux scored 32 seconds into the game. No one scored for about 45 minutes, untill Harvard tied on a power-play.
Monique Lamoureux was named WCHA rookie of the week for Nov 26-Dec 2. This follows her seven point weekend against Minnesota State. Currently, she leads Minnesota with the most points and goals.
Part of the pep band is in the building and that always makes for a more enthused crowd so we will see if it transfers to the ice for Minnesota.
