The Gophers look for the sweep against North Dakota here at Ridder Arena today.

*Note: Due to technical difficulties, I was not able to post anything from the first period.*

Gophers win 2-0.

7:24-Blankenship knocks in a rebound attempt for her seventh goal of the season to put the Gophers up 2-0.
5:42- North Dakota has yet to record a shot on goal this period. Still 1-0.

Minnesota heads into the final period with the 1-0 lead. The Gophers are 17-0-1 when leading after two periods this season. May continues to be the hero of the weekend, getting her team on the board first both nights. May had not scored a goal since Oct. 30 at Wisconsin before last night. The shots on goal are virtually even, with the Gophers edging UND 17-16.

18:16-Gophers finally get on the board as Laura May knocks in one from the right circle on a power play for her seventh goal of the season. Maunu and Blankenship get the assists.
13:30-Maunu heads to the box for tripping.
2:14-Both teams will be missing a player as Emily West and UND's Cassandra Flanagan both get called for high sticking. The two got into it after a scrum in front of the Sioux net almost gave the Gophers the lead. The puck trickled away from UND goalie Jorid Dagfinrud, and was nearly knocked in by the Gophers.

The two teams are locked up at zeros heading into the second period. Although the Sioux are being outshot 11-3, they have had a couple breakaway opportunities. Noora Raty continues to be a force in the net, denying the Sioux of any opportunity they may have. The Gophers would be in the lead if it were not for a couple lucky bounces in scrums in front of the Sioux net. The power play has looked efficient for the Gophers, even if they would rather not use it as often.
