The Minnesota representatives finished their U.S. Olympic trials a day early Sunday in Omaha, Neb.
Distance swimmer CJ Smith earned a time of 15:29.19 in the 1,500-meter freestyle. His 13th place was only five places out of advancing to the final. Future freshman Logan Redondo also competed. His time of 15:42.77 took 33rd out of 91 swimmers.
Two women's team members swam the 50 freestyle sprint. Erin Caflisch placed 100th at 26.54 and Tess Behrens tied for 135th, touching the wall in 26.89.
None of the Gophers qualified for the final day Monday. Several athletes will compete at the national level again in August at the U.S. Open Cup.
