Vikings' Peterson charged with resisting arrest

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was arrested on a charge of resisting arrest early Friday morning in Houston, ESPN reported.

Peterson was released from jail Saturday on a $1,000 bond and is due in court July 13, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Police said it took three officers to subdue Peterson after he had pushed an officer at a nightclub.

Peterson, 27, had been asked repeatedly to leave the club around 2 a.m. because it had closed, police said. After pushing the officer and being told he was under arrest, Peterson began yelling and took an "aggressive stance," police said.

With the help of two off-duty officers, Peterson was handcuffed and taken to a Houston jail. He complained of shortness of breath and was examinated by Houston Fire Department personnel, who said he was fine.

Peterson is recovering from an ACL tear he sustained last December. He rushed for 970 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, which was his fifth in the NFL.
