Two Gophers men's track and field athletes won weekly accolades from the Big Ten conference Monday.
Senior Harun Abda earned the Track Athlete of the Week title after winning the 800-meter run at Friday's Snowshoe Open at the University Fieldhouse. Abda ran 1:49.68, which ranks second in the conference and sixth in the nation. The time was also a Fieldhouse and Snowshoe record. This is Abda's second award of his career and first this season.
Senior Micah Hegerle won the Field Athlete of the Week honor after winning the weight throw at the Snowshoe Open. His 21.84-meter toss ranks first in the conference and second in the nation this season. This is Hegerle's fourth award of his career and first this season.
The Gophers will compete this weekend at the Big Ten indoor championships in Geneva, Ohio.
