Gophers freshman second baseman Connor Schaefbauer earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for his peformance in this past weekend's series against Iowa.
Schaefbauer hit .545 (6-for-11) and drove in three runs in the three-game set. The South Dakota native has split time at second base with sophomore Tony Sjkefte.
Peformances like this will likely keep Schaefbauer in the lineup. He's hitting .310 this season.
The last Gophers baseball play to claim this award was lefty pitcher Tom Windle in April of 2011.
