Poock tears ACL

Minnesota linebacker Cody Poock has torn the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, the Star Tribune's Joe Christensen reported Monday.

Poock has seen a multitude of reps with the Gophers' first team defense alongside expected starting linebackers Damien Wilson and De'Vondre Campbell in spring practice.

If Poock is not ready by the start of the season, Nick Rallis could get the starting nod at outside linebacker. Nick, the brother of former Gophers linebacker Mike Rallis, has been practicing multiple positions to give Minnesota more versatility.

"It just gives you more depth if you have somebody who can play more than one position and it doesn't slow him down," Gophers defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys said after practice last week. "Nick's micro chip that he has works a lot faster than mine does and you can put him in a lot of situations."
