Reggie Meyer signs NLI

Reggie Meyer, the younger brother of Gophers starting pitcher Ben Meyer, signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for Minnesota next year Wednesday. Meyer is right-handed pitcher, who currently plays baseball at Totino-Grace High School.

"He is a well-rounded young man from a solid family and a pitcher with a lot of upside potential," Minnesota pitching coach Todd Oakes said in a release. "He has the foundation to be a three-strike thrower with a quiet, but competitive, attitude that will add to the quality and depth of the Gopher pitching staff."

Last year, Meyer was garnered second-team Star Tribune All Metro and All-North Suburban Conference honors. He was 5-2 with a 1.11 earned run average for Totino-Grace. He was also a prolific high school basketball player, averaging 25 points and nine rebounds a game for the Eagles.

Meyer is the eighth member of Minnesota's signing class, which also includes Luke Petterson, Alex Boxwell, Toby Hanson, Lucas Gilbreath, Jeff Fasching, Fred Manke and Micah Coffey.
