Report: Konate commits to Gophers

With Elliott Eliason and Mo Walker set for their senior seasons in the fall, the Gophers needed to add some depth to their front line with this year's recruiting class.

Mission accomplished.

Bakary Konate, a 6-feet-11-inch center from Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, has committed to the Gophers, multiple outlets have reported. Evan Daniels of Scout.Com first reported the news.

Konate recently told the Minnesota Daily he liked Minnesota and the people and coaches within the program. Konate visted the University in February and thought it was "very nice."

Konate said he was looking for a school where he could "play a lot, … improve and get [a] championship next March."

Apparently, he felt Minnesota was a place where he could attempt to do all three. Konate chose the Gophers over the likes of Tulane, Creighton and Texas A&M.

The Gophers also received a commitment from Senegal big man Gaston Diedhiou earlier this spring.
