Cobb named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Minnesota senior running back David Cobb was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week today by the Big Ten.

Cobb ran for a career-high 220 yards and scored two touchdowns on 29 carries to lead the Gophers to a 35-24 victory over Middle Tennessee State on Saturday Sept. 6. The Gophers running back leads the Big Ten in total rushing yards with 291 yards on the season.

Illinois quarterback Wes Lunt was the other player awarded Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. Lunt threw for a career-high 456 yards and three touchdowns while leading the Illini to a 42-34 victory over Western Kentucky.

Cobb is the first Gophers player to receive the award since former Minnesota quarterback Phillip Nelson won it Nov. 4 last year.
