Stollings adds graduate transfer for 2016-17

Whitney Tinjum has been added to the Gophers women's basketball program as a graduate transfer from Bradley University, the team announced on Monday. The 6-foot-1 inch forward will join the team for the 2016-17 season.

Tinjum, a Stacy, Minn. native who played at Chisago Lakes High School, averaged 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in the 2015-16 season. She was the Braves second-leading scorer and started 16 of the 29 games she played in.

She is the fourth Minnesotan to transfer into the Gophers program since Stollings arrived, following Allina Starr, Kenisha Bell, and former Chisago Lakes teammate Bryanna Fernstrom.

The move adds depth to the team's frontcourt, as the Gophers only have one other forward listed on their roster.

"Whitney has a high basketball IQ combined with a strong fundamental skill set," Stollings said in a statement. "We like the versatility she possesses to play both inside and outside. Her ability to score combined with court awareness defensively will add immediate value to our team. It is a special moment for all of us to witness her return home."
