 Blarney Pub & Grill
Blarney is a hybrid cross between an Irish Pub and an American College Bar. Great food and drinks with a cozy, open-air atmosphere. This Dinkytown bar is a favorite.

Mediocre at best, its drink specials are abysmal compared to what you can get at other places in Dinkytown. It does have a great Juicy Lucy if you have to eat there.

After spending almost 2 years going to Blarneys for wonderful food and music, I had an experience last night that makes me never want to set foot in there again. Not only did the bouncers kick a man out by his face, pushing him to the ground, but when he asked to see a manager got his face slammed into the glass door and almost punched again.

To top it off, when the owner finally comes out, the disrespect from the owner was unbelievable. So much for protecting your customers and rapport for your business. The owner did not give this gentlemen the time of day and rather yelled at him and us (bystanders). I am still in awe of the lack of class I witnessed.

After calling the cops, I hope this will become resolved because the mistreatment of customers in this manner is completely ridiculous. I am furious at the fact that I merely had to witness this abuse and the overall lack of concern from Blarneys Pub and Grill.

I do not urge anyone to not go there. But this is not the first time I have witnessed such obscene behavior from bouncers and staff at Blarneys.

Changed my mind, f@#k this place. They're run by thieves and treat their customers like trash.

Came here on my birthday last night and they refused to honor the drink specials advertised on their little chalkboard sign. They tried to charge me $6 each for Jag bombs when they were advertised at $3. Bartender told me I misread the sign so I went outside to check it again.
All of us agreed that the sign did in fact read "$3 Jag bombs."

Brought it up with the bouncer at the door and a managerial looking guy standing next to him and was told that the decision is ultimately up to the bartender. I asked him why they advertise specials that they don't honor and the jack a## goes over to the board and erases the listing, then turns to me and smiles.

Any place that uses drink specials to lure in customers and then refuses to honor said specials once the place gets busy demonstrates very bad Karma. The universe works in funny ways, crooks always get punished one way or another. They deserve any bad thing that comes their way.

F@#k this place.

$3 pizzas on Monday nights are excellent. But wait... They're now closed on Mondays. What a shame.

I love the old Blarneys..the thursdays when you had to wait in a line to get in the door because the place was so packed with people. The drunk kids on stage singing karaoke while every danced to the horrific singers on stage. The cheap long islands kept everyone smiling. Then the library opened and the excitement of Blarneys died. Come back everyone!! Blarneys is way more fun than the library..don't you miss it?

Hungry John should get a free month's worth of food at Balrney Pub for his frank letter, etc.

The description of the Scottish Eggs makes me want to jump on the next Korean Airlines 747 to the Twin Cities.

Pretty clean place, room to sit... open in the morning with few people there. Servers are friendly and personable. Good food for decent prices.

This place has a feel that is both classy and collegiate when it comes menu and decor. They've got some kind of dipping sauce that is out-of-this world, and I can't remember having it anywhere but there. Goes great with onion rings. Some fun Irish touches to the menu...last time I was there I had the Scottish eggs, just because I'd never tried them before: hard-boiled eggs cooked inside a breakfast sausage. Lots of great touches like that. This place is also a real, uh, pick up bar. Raging hormones seeping out of the walls along with all that Blarney-fied atmosphere. When Fox-9 wanted to jack around with our glorious U of M sportsmen just to increase their ratings with a so-called "investigative report," Fox-9 targeted Blarney's because, well, that's where the good times roll. Up with Blarney's, and down with Fox-9.
