Webmaster

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Serves as the lead programmer of the Daily. Maintains the integrity of the Daily’s online system.
•Conducts security assessments, including verifying that the Daily is secure with the newest patches and free of vulnerabilities
•Evaluates new internet methods and project-planning/experimentation to ensure the Daily is on the forefront of technology
•Implements new website features, and designs and implements tools for the Daily
•Works with other departments as needed to update stories and web page content while continuously creating new ideas for the web page
•Updates legal, technical and demographic aspects of electronic publishing
•Any other tasks assigned by the Online Manager.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
•Must be a University of Minnesota student
•HTML, PHP, MySQL and *NIX experiences are necessary
•Knowledge about system and program security, vulnerability awareness
•Experiences with JQuery, C#.NET, Drupal and JavaScript preferred

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
•Strong computer skills and ability to do security auditing
•Strong innovation skills
•Ability to deal with stress and work on a deadline
•Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to hear and speak English clearly
•Ability to visually analyze newspaper content while distinguishing between colors
•Ability to type
