Managing Production Editor

Responsible for coordinating all components of editing, design, graphics, online production, and editorial production on deadline. Responsible for ensuring integrity and quality of all stories, and has the authority to recall a reporter or associate editor to the Daily if problems arise and their presence is required. Responsible for all aspects of the front page except for photos and graphics. Ensures copy flow in the newsroom is smooth and all deadlines are met. Proofs all pages on paper and makes corrections as needed. Doubles editing duties of Copy Desk Chief, but focuses primarily on reading for content and libel. Must have two years news editorial experience with Daily or equivalent. Proven reporting, editing, and design abilities. Ability to train and mentor effectively, including excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with stress and attention to deadlines is a must. Highly motivated individual required. Must be a University of Minnesota student.
