Web Programmer
Responsibilities
- Responsible for development of internal systems as well the production site for the Minnesota Daily.
- Work with manager and webmaster on a complete site redesign.
- Develop systems and tools for all departments.
- Attend weekly meetings and work predominantly in the office (15 to 20 hours a week).
Qualifications
- Strong desire to learn
- Experience with PHP, JavaScript, CSS, MySql and other web technologies
- Familiarity with Linux/UNIX
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and handle multiple projects
- Work well independently as well as on a team
- Prior experience working with media companies is a plus
- Experience with Drupal is a plus
- Excellence in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator is a plus
- Experience with mobile app development is a plus
Essential Functions
- Must be a University of Minnesota student.
- Must have the ability to hear and speak English clearly.
- Frequently requires the ability to visually analyze information.
- Regularly requires verbal intelligence to convey ideas, knowledge and thorough critiques for department and other Daily staff.
- Regularly requires repetitive finger motion and finger dexterity.
- There is an occasional risk of electric shock when working with machines.
- Motor coordination skills necessary while working with computers and other equipment.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors.
