Police don’t have any new leads in their investigation of a University of Minnesota student who has been missing since early Friday morning.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in searching for Jennifer Houle, 22, who was last seen at Blarney Pub and Grill in Dinkytown on Friday between 1 and 2 a.m.

Houle is described as 5 feet, 5 inches and 140 pounds with long blond hair. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, green blouse, black leggings and boots.

Police won’t plan an official search unless they learn new information, Minneapolis Public Information Officer John Elder said on Sunday afternoon.

“At this point, not having a concrete lead as to where she may be, to send people out to search, it doesn’t seem to be prudent because we don’t even know where to start looking,” he said.

Houle is a senior studying business and is set to graduate this spring from the Carlson School of Management. She is also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

A person who answered the phone at the Houle residence on Saturday said the family is declining to comment.

Minneapolis police said in a social media post that Houle’s purse was located at 3 a.m. Friday on the 1100 block of Fourth Street Southeast, a block from the sorority’s house and about three blocks from the Dinkytown bar.

Elder said Minneapolis police officers are still investigating the case and trying to identify a lead.

Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Danita Brown Young released a statement on Sunday afternoon, saying the University is working with law enforcement to help find Houle.

She encouraged students to seek support and counseling if they need it.

“We remain hopeful that Ms. Houle will be found safe and sound,” Brown Young said in the statement.

A Sunday evening vigil was planned at Stillwater Area High School where Houle graduated.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or text 847-411, enter MPD and the tip, or call the tip line at 612-692-8477.
