After split, Kroll to run new group

Law student Kyle Kroll was elected on Sunday to lead professional students next school year.

With the passing of a referendum to split the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly into two organizations, Kroll will head professional students under a renamed organization and graduate students will continue to be represented under the Council of Graduate Students.

COGS will hold internal presidential elections at the end of April to elect its leader.

Kroll, who ran unopposed, supports the referendum and said he wants to place more emphasis on the professional councils GAPSA represents.

He said GAPSA needs to focus on reforming its internal structure before it can take a powerful position on campus-wide issues.

As president, he said he plans to play a facilitator role to aid communication between councils and better allocate resources among them.

“I really believe in ‘power to the councils,’” Kroll said.
