Over the weekend, two crime alerts were sent out as one man was robbed at gunpoint and another was assaulted and robbed in an unrelated incident. With the school year in full swing, winter nights limiting daylight and students staying on campus late to study and go out on the weekends, we urge everyone to take extra caution.
Many such incidents occur during the early hours of the morning with victims who are traveling alone.
To mitigate the frequency of these incidents, we would like to remind students that if you must travel late at night, stick to well-lit areas and travel with friends. Furthermore, the University of Minnesota offers campus security guard monitor escort services to prevent students from becoming victims of crimes. Take advantage of this and other services to stay safe.
