The Moe Poll is an internet poll conducted by The Minnesota Daily. The results from the Moe Poll merit interest and provide insight to the attitudes and viewpoints of the University community. However, polls of this type are generally considered non-scientific for several reasons:
1) Because individual respondents self-select into answering Moe Poll by visiting mndaily.com (rather than being recruited from a systematic, random sample of participants as in other surveys conducted by The Daily), the proportion of responses may or may not be reflective or representative of the views of the broader University population.
2) It is possible that an individual respondent (or respondents) could answer the Moe Poll multiple times. This can skew poll responses. 3) Response rates may be low, thereby limiting inference and extrapolation to broader populations.
