Gophers earn first Big Ten win with homecoming victory over Illinois

Running back Kobe McCrary ran for 153 yards and a touchdown, filling in for the injured Shannon Brooks.

Quarterback Demry Croft didn't light up the Fighting Illini defense for multiple passing touchdowns in his first start on Saturday. He didn't throw for 300 yards and make the game-winning play, but it was still enough to give the Gophers the victory. Minnesota (4-3, 1-3 Big Ten) won its first Big Ten game of the year, defeating Illinois (2-5, 0-4 Big Ten) 24-17 at the Gophers’ homecoming game.
