Trio of freshmen give Minnesota more offensive options

At the end of last season, Minnesota lost forwards Sydney Squires and Julianna Gernes, its two top scorers in 2017, as they both graduated. To replace Squires and Gernes, head coach Stefanie Golan has used three freshman forwards in all seven matches this season: McKenna Buisman, Megan Gray and Patricia Ward.

Gopher Cross Country teams open the season on top

On Friday, the University of Minnesota men’s and women’s cross country teams raced at Les Bolstad Golf Course on a warm September night in the annual Oz Memorial meet. No. 24 Minnesota women’s cross country team finished with a team score of 15 points to win the title.

Minnesota shuts out North Dakota State to end losing streak

Minnesota (4-3-0) shut out North Dakota State (1-3-0) 4-0 on Friday night at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium, ending the Gophers' three-match losing streak. Three players scored for the Gophers: forwards April Bockin, Makenzie Langdok and defender Nikki Albrecht. Minnesota had not scored more than two goals in a regular-season match since beating Illinois 4-0 on Oct. 15, 2017.
