Minnesota men’s club lacrosse strives for Division I classification

Lacrosse isn’t just an East Coast thing anymore. It’s all grown up with bags packed, firmly planted in the Midwest. Minnesota is one of 14 states with at least 10,000 participants at the youth lacrosse level as of 2015, according to US Lacrosse. This kind of participation is forcing universities across the country to ask themselves if their club teams should turn into NCAA Division I teams. That's the exact situation Minnesota has found itself in for years.

Runs in the family: Bit Klecker ready to raise bar for the Gophers alongside sibling

Running cross country and track and field is a way of life for Gophers freshman Bit Klecker.  Her mother competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics, her father ran cross country for the University of Wisconsin-Stout and two of her siblings are collegiate runners.  Now, the Hopkins High School graduate will join older sister redshirt senior Sarah Klecker on the 2017 Gopher women’s cross country team.

Seliger-Swenson sets up Gophers for promise

Junior Samantha Seliger-Swenson had to overcome early criticism from those at the NCAA level. “I remember the talks about her, Big Ten, Big 12, and [other] Power Five conference coaches… people were kind of knocking her for being a little bit slow,” said Seliger-Swenson’s former club volleyball coach Jennifer Jacobs. “She hadn’t grown into her feet yet.”

Gophers finish ninth in Minnesota Invite

Minnesota took ninth place in the Minnesota Invitational at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, Minnesota with contributions not only from the experienced upperclassmen of Muyu Wu and Sabrine Garrison, but also freshmen Katie Lillie and Grace Kellar. Wu led the Gophers tallying two under par, tying her for 17th, while Garrison captured a tie for 39th by posting a four over.
